and Benson. Incumbent Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson all won easily. Additionally, voters turned both houses of the state legislature under Democratic control for the first time in 40 years.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a champion of abortion rights, was re-elected. Attorney General Dana Nessel, who kept the people of this state safe from a 1931 abortion ban, was re-elected. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, who has held Michigan’s election results safe, was re-elected. Prop 3, which restored the right to abortion in Michigan, passed And Michigan has a democratic trifecta (state house, state senate, and governor’s office) for the first time since 1984.

Democrats will control the governor's office and Michigan Legislature for the first time in four decades after
dominating an election marked by a solid turnout from abortion rights supporters.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer won a second term. And it appears she’ll have a friendly Legislature after Democrats
claimed to win control of the Michigan House and Senate for the first time since 1984.
She’s joined in the victory column by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Attorney General Dana Nessel.

Democrats flipped a congressional seat and maintained their edge on the Michigan Supreme Court.
“Ultimately, Michigan values propelled us to victory,” Nessel tweeted on Wednesday. “Love over Hate. Hope over Fear. Unity over Division. Equality over Bigotry. Science over Ignorance. Facts over Lies. Democracy over Fascism. Equal protection under the law, for each and every Michigander.”
